Peacock by Pagos, our payments data aggregation and visualization platform, is fluffing its feathers and showing off after undergoing a recent design update. Specifically, we’ve launched a new design for our dashboard and chart filters, aimed at delivering a more visually appealing and intuitive experience for users. We know that understanding your payments data and extracting meaningful insights can be a daunting task. As such, our goal with Peacock has always been to help our users find valuable, actionable information in as few steps as possible. In pursuit of this goal, we’ve completely redesigned the way our filters work in the platform, mainly to make things easier to find.

In this blog post, we’ll explore how valuable it can be to have a good data filtering system, and then outline the features of Peacock that boost the entire user experience. Let’s fly in!

Exploring the New Filters Design in Peacock

The new filters design in Peacock has been carefully crafted to provide users with a streamlined and intuitive experience. The user interface (UI) has undergone a complete overhaul, resulting in a more visually appealing design. The layout of the filter options ensures you can quickly locate and select the desired parameters, enabling you to gain insights and make data-driven decisions more efficiently. You can view all the filter options by clicking the funnel icon at the top of any dashboard. This is how the updated filters design looks:

As you can see, all available filter options are located in a new Filters side panel. Note that you can close the Filters panel at any time by clicking on the arrow at the top. This new side panel is a major change compared to how we used to display filters (in a series of drop-down menus at the top of each dashboard). Let’s dive in on the new features available in the Filters side panel, from the top:

  • Search bar - Use the search bar to find your filter of choice. Given we have a large selection of different filters, this comes in handy when you want to pull up a specific filter fast, without scrolling through all options.

  • Period and Compare To: These filter options aren’t new, but they are prominently featured both in the Filters panel and at the top of each dashboard. We highlighted them because of how useful they are when analyzing data in Peacock. With the Period filter, you can filter your data by different time periods and intervals (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly). With the Compare To filter, you can compare how data appears in one time period vs. a previous period—a helpful tool for identifying patterns, trends, and sudden changes in behavior.

  • Favorite filters - A star icon appears to the right of each filter. By clicking these stars, you can choose which filters appear under the Favorites category at the top of the Filters panel. This way you don’t have to scroll through the options and search for the filters you use the most every time you want to use them. If you favorited any filter options in the old filter design, they'll already appear in the Favorites category. To remove a filter from your Favorites, simply click on the star icon again.

Category Specific Filters

The other big change we’ve introduced to the Peacock filtering system is filter categories. We’ve grouped all the available filter options into five categories, as shown below. It’s worth noting that the filters are the same as they’ve always been—we just rearranged them into categories for ease of use:

  • Data Source

    • Processor

  • Payment Type

    • Card Brand

    • Card Type

    • Payment Method Type

    • Stored Credential

  • Transaction

    • Transaction Status

    • Transaction Response Code

    • Transaction Size

    • Deduplication

  • Customer

    • Country

    • Currency

    • Issuing Bank

  • Custom Fields

    • Soft Descriptor

    • Metadata

    • Tags

The Power of Filters

Peacock by Pagos goes beyond basic data visualization by incorporating advanced analytical capabilities into our filters design. You can apply complex filters using a combination of criteria, such as transaction size ranges, data source, or even your own categories (learn more about metadata, soft descriptors, and tags in this blog post). This level of sophistication enables you to gain a deeper understanding of your payment data and extract granular insights that were previously hidden.

For example, let’s say you want to filter a dashboard for card transactions made in Euros that were greater than $150 (when converted to USD). Instead of spending days combing through your data, you can quickly apply a few Peacock filters:

  1. Click the funnel icon at the top of your dashboard to open the Filters side panel.

  2. Under the Payment Type category, click the Payment Method Type filter. Select card, then click the Done button.

  3. Under the Transaction category, click the Transaction Size filter. Select greater than in the dropdown, then type in $150 and click Done

  4. Open the Customer category, then click the Currency filter. Select Euro, then click Done

  5. To apply all these filters, click the Apply button at the bottom of the panel.

That’s it! You can also see that you have the option of saving these combined filter settings as a View by clicking on the arrow on the Apply button, then clicking Apply and Save View. Check out our Data Filters guide for more information about Saved Views.

Ready to Filter For Yourself?

With the advanced analytical features in Peacock, you can perform in-depth analyses and uncover valuable patterns and trends in your payments data. For example, create custom filters to identify high-value transactions or analyze payment patterns for specific product categories. By leveraging these advanced capabilities, you can gain actionable insights into customer behavior, revenue drivers, and areas of improvement in your payments stack. This empowers you to make data-backed decisions that drive growth and improve business performance.
