Every shred of your payments data has value. Every transaction, every return, and every chargeback contributes to the greater story of how customers interact with and make purchases from your business. It can be tempting to heavily filter your data to hone in on only the most valuable segments and ignore the rest—and sometimes that’s the right move! When an issue impacts only your largest market segments, identifying it means you can make a small change that has a big impact on your overall payments-related costs and revenue.
When your business is ready to move beyond basic payments improvements and into the realm of driving business value through payments intelligence, however, you need the full picture. Only then will you discover all the cost-cutting and revenue-driving opportunities available in the finer details!
Filter When You Need To, Expand When You Want To
Pagos Insights gives you the flexibility to zoom in or out on your payments data. You can analyze highly specific segments, like chargebacks from a single issuer or declines from a certain region, or you can step back and look at the broader ecosystem of your payments performance. You choose the level of granularity that matches your goals.
That’s why we’ve introduced a new toggle in the Chargebacks and Disputes visualizations throughout the Pagos Service Panel called All Chargeback and Dispute Statuses:

When enabled, this toggle expands your view beyond network-defined chargebacks to include ALL dispute statuses—even those that typically fly under the radar. This includes early dispute statuses like Requests for Information and Notification of Fraud, which alert you before a chargeback is filed and can help you identify potential issues (e.g. fraud or customer confusion) early. It even displays statuses like Pre-Arbitration, which occur after a chargeback is already in progress and indicate a customer is escalating or challenging the dispute again.
These statuses may not count toward your official chargeback rate, but they do affect your business, including your team’s workload, response timelines, and win strategies. Statuses from early in the dispute process can be the first indicators of friction in your customer experience, allowing you to spot and rectify issues before they result in increased churn. Monitoring your volume of pre-arbitrations helps you assess whether your current process of handling chargebacks is adequate, and spot trends to reduce future losses and arbitration costs.
The toggle is off by default, so nothing changes unless you need it to. Just open the Dataset selector in the top-right corner of the relevant visual and click the All Chargeback & Dispute Statuses toggle. In the Metrics pages, this will update the Chargeback/Dispute Status bar lists, and in Charts and Snapshots, it'll instantly give you filtering and breakdown options for this expanded data set.

Bonus: Rapid Dispute Resolution Support
While we were in the neighborhood, we added another insights layer! If you’re using Visa Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR)—a program through which you can design rules to automatically refund certain disputed transactions before they become chargebacks—you can now view your relevant data in Pagos! That means more visibility into how efficiently issues are being closed before they escalate. This is just one more way Pagos helps you stay ahead of the curve.
To view data for disputes or chargebacks that were automatically resolved through RDR, just use Rapid Dispute Resolution as a breakdown or filter in any chart.

Your Chargeback Data, Your Way
As your payment processing becomes more sophisticated, you need tooling that grows with you. Whether you’re narrowing your focus to catch high-impact issues or pulling back to spot trends across your entire ecosystem, Pagos Insights gives you the flexibility to do both.
This flexibility is especially valuable in the realm of chargebacks, where identifying trends at the micro and macro level isn’t just about avoiding financial losses, it’s about successfully maintaining customer trust. Ultimately, chargebacks are a crucial part of what makes digital payments work; customers are more likely to complete an online purchase when they know they can recover funds if something goes wrong.
Understanding chargeback behavior means understanding where customers might be losing trust with your business. That’s the kind of payments intelligence that drives real business value—and Pagos can get you there. Contact us today to get started!
