THE PROBLEM
Expired Cards
Stored card credentials decay constantly. Cards get replaced, expire, or are reissued by banks. Every outdated credential in your vault is a failed transaction waiting to happen.
Failed Transactions
Expired or replaced card numbers produce hard declines that no retry strategy can recover. The card number itself is no longer valid at the issuer.
Fragmented Network Access
Integrating directly with each card network for network tokens or account updates requires separate certifications, contracts, and technical implementations. Most companies rely on their processor's limited implementation.
Customer Friction
When a stored card fails, the customer must manually enter new credentials. Each friction point increases the likelihood of churn, especially for subscription businesses.
THE SOLUTION
Two Products.
Pagos Account Updater and Network Tokenization solve the same problem through complementary mechanisms. Most companies implement both.
Pagos Account Updater
Refresh Card Credentials
On Demand
Query the card networks for updated card numbers and expiration dates, in real time or in batches.
Real-Time
Check credentials at the moment of transaction or vaulting. If the card has been replaced, get the updated number before even attempting the authorization.
Batch
Send a cohort of stored cards (e.g. recently declined or approaching expiration) and receive updated credentials for your entire vault segment.
Granular Control
Update only the credentials you choose, like those recently expired or associated with your most loyal customers. Pay a single price across all card brands; no per-network pricing complexity.
Pagos Network Tokenization
Credentials That Update
Themselves
Replace stored PANs with network-issued tokens that remain valid even when the underlying card is replaced or reissued.
Automatic Updates
When a cardholder's bank reissues their card, the network refreshes their token automatically. No query needed, no batch job, no cardholder action.
Provision Once, Transact Everywhere
Network tokens work with each of your existing processors, across all markets. No processor lock-in.
Dedicated TRIDs
Each merchant gets a dedicated Token Requestor ID (TRID) per card brand. Your tokens are forever under your control, independent of other merchants.
BETTER TOGETHER
Why Most Companies
Account Updater and Network Tokens solve the same problem through complementary mechanisms. Most companies implement both.
| Account Updater | Network Tokens | Both Together | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Update Mechanism | On-demand query to networks | Automatic lifecycle updates | On-demand and automatic for maximum coverage |
| Existing Vault Cards | Refreshes current stored PANs | Requires token provisioning | Existing vault kept fresh; tokens provisioned going forward |
| Card Reissuance | Returns new PAN when queried | Token stays valid automatically | Zero-gap coverage for card replacements |
| Issuer Trust Signal | Standard transaction | Higher trust from issuers and networks | Tokenized transactions benefit from increased approval rates |
| Best For | Vault-wide refreshes, pre-retry checks | Ongoing credential persistence | Complete credential lifecycle management |
INDEPENDENT
Direct to the Networks.
Pagos maintains direct connections to all four major card networks so you don't have to. Keep credentials fresh through one integration with Pagos.

GETTING STARTED
Sandbox in Minutes.
Pagos manages the network certifications and registrations. You manage the integration.

Test Transaction with a Token
You can test fetching a cryptogram on the tokenRefId returned for a card
Self-Service Sandbox

Integrate
Build against a single REST API that handles real-time lookups, batch jobs, and token provisioning. Pagos SDKs available for common languages.
Go Live
Move to production. Pagos handles the network registration, TRID provisioning, and certification. Most merchants go live within a day of completing integration.
BUILT FOR
Companies That Own
Tools designed for merchants who manage stored card data directly.
Own-Vault Merchants
Pagos built Account Updater and Network Tokenization for companies that store card credentials in their own PCI-compliant environment and need direct network access for updates and tokenization.
Subscription Businesses
Recurring billing depends on stored credentials staying current. Expired cards create involuntary churn. Pagos keeps subscription payments flowing without customer intervention.
Platforms & Marketplaces
Platforms managing credentials for sub-merchants need a single integration that scales. Pagos supports multi-level hierarchies with appropriate access controls at each tier.
