Introducing the New Pagos Connector in Claude

Back in February, we announced our expansion of the Pagos MCP Server to provide Pagos customers with conversational access to their harmonized payments data through their preferred AI agent. Today we're making that connection a lot easier for Claude users: Pagos is now a Community Connector inside Claude!

If you already use Claude for work, you no longer need to create a custom Connector to get up and running with Pagos MCP. Instead, you can simply search for us in Claude's Connector directory, click connect, log in, and you're set. Start querying your own clean and harmonized payments data or run a quick BIN lookup in plain English. Bing, bang, boom.

Why This Matters More Than It Sounds

It may be tempting to brush off this announcement as a minor UX enhancement, but we can assure you it’s anything but. If you work in payments, you know the inherent cost of friction. Friction for your customers at checkout leads to more abandoned carts and lower transaction attempts; friction for you in gaining payments data visibility hinders optimization work. With our own Connector in Claude, we’re reducing setup friction for payments teams seeking to do more—drive more approvals, cut more costs, and fight more fraud—with fewer resources.

This expedited setup process is actually only half the story. The part that matters even more is what's on the other end of that connection: a dataset that's been ingested from every processor you use, aggregated and harmonized into one consistent model, and enriched with additional data where we can add it. That's the less glamorous infrastructure work Pagos has been building long before "conversational AI" became a buzzword.

AI agents are only as good as the data they’re working with. Point Claude at messy, unreconciled data from five different processors and you'll get confident-sounding nonsense back as it tries to aggregate disparate decline codes and payment methods. Point it towards a clean, verified dataset harmonized by payments experts, and suddenly natural language becomes a legitimate interface for payments analysis.

What You Can Ask

Once connected, the Pagos MCP Server gives Claude two tools to work with:

  1. BIN Database Queries - Ask about any BIN and get standard and enhanced data back — issuing bank, card type, whether it's a virtual card, network tokenization support, and more. You can ask:

    1. What bank issued [BIN]?

    2. Is [BIN] a prepaid card?

    3. What BINs are associated with neobanks?

  1. Pagos Data Queries - Ask about transactions, refunds, chargebacks, and costs, sliced by whatever dimensions matter to you (e.g. processor, region, card brand). You can even go a step further by providing the agent with business context; from there, you can ask questions analyzing how your payments data responded to certain business decisions. You can ask:

    1. Since we added Apple Pay as an accepted payment method in January 2026, has it driven more transaction volume or cannibalized volume from my other payment methods?

    2. Show me any fee subcategories that have increased by at least 10% since we added Braintree as a processor 3 months ago.

    3. Cross-reference this month's declined transaction volume broken down by decline reason code with our top support ticket categories—is there a pattern between what customers are complaining about and where we're losing transactions?

Rest assured, Pagos doesn’t share your data with anyone else and Claude can’t either. The Pagos MCP Server merely provides you with a new and convenient method for viewing the same clean data available in the Pagos Insights dashboards.

What You Can Build

If you're deeply entrenched in payments data on a day-to-day basis and know exactly which data points you need, the ability to ask Claude for stats like "monthly approval rate by payment method year-to-date" or "decline code breakdown by processor for the last month" can save you significant time and energy. But that's hardly the extent of the Pagos MCP Server's value. We didn't design MCP just to be a faster dashboard, but to instead augment the AI agents you're already building and talking to with unparalleled historical context in the form of clean, usable payments data. 

Say you’re building a fraud-monitoring agent; Pagos MCP allows it to pull dispute and decline data straight from Pagos instead of working off a static export that's already stale. Or maybe you want to build out a pitch deck for selling leadership on a new market expansion; Pagos MCP can ground your agent’s projections and recommendations in your real approval rates and processing costs. Maybe you’re just triaging a sudden decline spike; Pagos MCP can check your transaction data alongside outside resources like a processor's status page or an issuer's fraud advisory, and come back with a diagnosis instead of just a chart. The possibilities are endless.

If you're already a Pagos customer with payment processors connected, this takes about two minutes. Head to your Claude Connector settings, search "Pagos," and authenticate. If you're not yet a Pagos customer, get started here; you'll be querying your own data soon enough.
